Press Release from: The For Britain Movement
Over the weekend Gunmen said to be from the Islamic State opened fire on a bus carrying Christian worshippers returning from a remote Coptic Christian monastery in upper Egypt on Friday, killing at least eight and wounding 13. Six of those killed were from the same family, according to a post on the Facebook page of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt.
The Persecution of Christians in Muslim majority countries is awash with ill treatment, violence and bloodshed. In a statement, the Islamic militants claimed that they had killed 13 and wounded 18, and that the attack was in response to the jailing of females they claim to be their supporters by the Egyptian government.
The Islamic scriptures not only condones the killing of unbelievers but calls for it as an act of submission. Freedom of religion should be an international value and the international community should standing united on the condemnation of this atrocity.
For Britain calls on Theresa May to condemn the persecution of minority faiths in the strongest term and withdraw aid from Egypt with immediate effect. Our government cannot continue to support a country that practices medieval murder and overtly supports terrorist organisations.
