Europe of Nations and Freedom Vice President Janice Atkinson in conversation with the leader of For Britain in Brussels 2018
Some images from Anne Marie Waters , leader of the For Britain Movement political party’s visit to the USA.
Anne Marie Waters , leader of the For Britain Movement , has just returned from the Florida where she spoke at the Restoration Weekend 2018.
On the evening of Sunday the 18th of November members of For Britain went along to a meeting in Preston under the provocative heading of: Questioning Islam; Is it now time to establish the Islamic Caliphate in the UK? (The advertising poster went on to say): “Many questions are being asked about the place of Islam in the modern world. With the chaos of Brexit and the breakdown of some of the social structures in the UK, can the Islamic caliphate provide a solution?” If you have always wanted to talk about this subject and ask a Muslim a question about Islam or Muhammad that you haven’t before, in case of offending or upsetting them, then please join us (for this talk)”
For Britain fully believe in democracy and debate in a free society, so rather than employ left wing tactics of trying to close an event down that we fundamentally disagree with the premise of, a number of members decided to attend and ask the questions as requested. We did not announce to anyone that we were to attend, as we did not want to create any undue attention, and always mindful of the threat against our members from the far left, we did not want to necessitate security. At no point did anyone mention that we were members of For Britain, we attended as normal members of the public.
The meeting was promoted by an organisation called The Light Foundation, based in Preston. From a reading of their website The Light Foundation appears to be an Islamic community and outreach organisation.
I would estimate that there were between 40 and 50 people in attendance, and I would also estimate that more than half were Muslim (all male). The panel was made up of two Muslim spiritual leaders and was chaired by a young Muslim solicitor. The event took place in a church hall, not a mosque.
Straight out of the blocks, one of the Panel, Adam, said ‘no’ he did not think this was time for a Caliphate in the UK! He then followed up immediately with the provocative question; “so, should we all just go home now then?” Of course the audience did not get up and leave, instead conversation, dialogue and questions between the audience and panel and also between members of the audience ensued robustly for the next couple of hours.

Everything Gerard Batten touches turns to gold. He simply cannot fail – When he took over the leadership of UKIP the party was in a state of implosion with the obituary writers just sharpening their pens to record the final collapse. It was all over , done and dusted , finished or so it seemed , but Batten had different ideas and he was hardly in the door before he had halted the exodus from the party and begun , over the space of a few short months , to put the finances of the party back in the red. Batten looked and sounded like a leader , someone who knew what he wanted and knew how to get it. He was comfortable in front of the TV cameras and projected the image of a strong man who knew his own mind – He was impressive , no question about that.
Nothing quite succeeds like success and soon major YouTubers with huge followings were flocking to his side while an army of disgruntled ex UKIPers were returning to the fold in ever larger numbers. Even his worst enemies would have to admit that he was doing everything right when, just at the right moment Tommy Robinson found himself in jail for contempt of court putting in motion chain of events which potentially could bring millions of new member into the ranks of UKIP. God it seems , was on Gerard Battens side , there could be no other explanation . Batten was getting more TV coverage than Nigel Farage and looked ever more the national figure with each passing minute and it has to be admitted that he played his hand well , very well , in all of this and did not miss a single trick.
None of this bodes well for For Britain , at least in the short to medium term. When Anne Marie Waters founded For Britain she might reasonably have expected to pick up many ex UKIP votes and members , and with a UKIP that was becoming less relevant by the second her party could have hoped to attract the dissident ‘ right’ vote in any future election at national or local level , but now even the most committed For Britain member must be wondering if For Britain has any future at all. Certainly this has knocked For Britain back – this was not exactly part of the plan and Batten is no Henry Bolton…….this is not going to be the walk over that some For Britain members might have thought it was going to be.
There can be little doubt that if an election is called in the near future UKIP will probable do well , how well is anyone guess , but all the polls look promising from UKIP’s point of view and if these predictions come true it could be embarrassing for For Britain is they fail to attract at least a respectable vote in the relatively few seats they have the manpower or funds to contest , and while no one in For Britain with any intelligence believed it would be easy few expected it might get this hard. This was definitely not part of the plan. The harsh reality is that most British people have never heard of the For Britain Movement or Anne Marie Waters and if the mainstream media have their way it will stay like that.
Of course , even if there is an election and UKIP do well , there are still a lot of quite powerful people in UKIP who hate Batten’s guts and would love to get rid of him at almost any cost and if an internal war were to erupt it might just tear UKIP apart. Batten has a somewhat arrogant manner , there is a bit of the upstart about him , a swagger that has only come to the fore in very recent times and he is rubbing all the right people up the wrong way and while it is undoubtedly true that nothing succeeds like success the opposite is equally true and pride , arrogance and over confidence can lead to a terrible and ignoble fall. Cynics might argue that Batten was a relatively quiet and inactive voice in UKIP untill Anne Marie Waters decided to set up her own party and that his interest in Tommy Robinson developed in tandem with Robinson’s breakthrough rise to prominence and international fame since his stint in prison and even those who don’t have a cynical bone in their bodies might come to the same conclusion.

Tommy Robinson has just announced a Brexit Betrayal protest to be held in London on the 9th. December. He made the announcement in a video posted on his YouTube channel where he can be seen sitting side by side with the leader of UKIP , Gerard Batten. Batten‘s body language and general manner is odd … he is not his usual emphatic self…or so it seems to me.
Batten is still pushing for Robinson to be admitted into UKIP. His relationship with Robinson is complex and , in my opinion , parasitic . Batten supports the UKIP ban on members and ex members of the EDL but insists that Robinson is a special case but the reality is that there is no difference between the opinions of most EDL members and those of Robinson. Most members of the EDL are decent , liberal-minded people but they are not politically sexy ….they are often poor people from deprived communities and are universally despised and slandered for that very reason , often being refered to as ‘ knuckle draggers and other abusive terms. The only reason for this UKIP ban is that Batten and UKIP are terrified of the press and are playing the same game as Nigel Farage was when he called Anne Marie Water’s and her supporters Nazis. The fact that Batten and UKIP were themselves called racist , bigoted and Nazi only compounds the insult to the EDL. As I have already said , there is no substantive difference between Tommy Robinson and the average EDL member but Robinson IS politically very sexy with his combination of fame and notoriety and his ever-growing public profile especially since his last stint in prison , as opposed to the EDL who are politically toxic.
Batten’s courtship of Tommy Robinson might of course backfire – There are many in UKIP , especially in the leadership , who believe that having Robinson as a member might be the death knell of the party. Many brexiteers will be equally unhappy to see Robinson at the helm of this Brexit Betrayal protest , feeling that UKIP should be leading and be seen to be leading on this issue. It could also seriously split the Brexit movement. Either way , Batten is playing a dangerous game …… Robinson is not a politician and while he is highly successful as a street agitator and activist of sorts, politics requires a very different kind of intelligence and cunning , not to mention cynicism and coldness of temperament. Robinson is intelligent but he is also impulsive and many of his hangers-on are colorful if not downright shady characters , to say the least.
Anne Marie Waters , in the mean time , is working away in the background building new branches of her party and putting the message out and at this stage of the game that is about all she can do. And her message is clear , there is no ambiguity , there is no need to read between the lines……….And as things get worse , as the oppression becomes ever more oppressive and affects more and more ordinary people maybe her day at last will come.
