DOUGLAS MURRAY’S REGRET

“Day by day the continent of Europe is not only changing but is losing any possibility of a soft landing in response to such change. An entire political class have failed to appreciate that many of us who live in Europe love the Europe that was ours…….if they do change it many of us will regret this quietly. Others will regret it less quietly.”

I have just finished reading Douglas Murray’s , “Strange Death of Europe” , and the above paragraph , which comes at the very end of the book , sums up what for me is the problem with this book. Murray does not care , or at least does not care enough. He will , in his own words , “regret it quietly” and presumably just forget the victims and the damage done , not just to the victims of the last few years but all those victims to come. Murray’s language throughout the book is civil and temperate with one glaring exception when he uses the word ‘ rancid ‘ in reference to the ‘far right’ or at least certain sections of the ‘far right’.  ” It is also true that these parties ( Pegida/EDL) include people with rancid political views. But so too , it must be noted , do mainstream parties of the political left and right “. While this statement may seem quite reasonable it is significant that he makes it when speaking of Pegida and the EDL and not on any of the numerous occasions he quotes Angela Merkel and a host of other people and groups. He does not refer to any of the mainstream characters that litter his book as ‘criminal’ in spite of the ample evident that he supplies in his book that that is exactly what they are.

This is an interesting and very readable book and it will , I’m sure , ‘red pill’ some people but I fear that in the long run it may do more harm than good – like all those slick YouTube videos that entertain us far more that educate us and always avoid stating the very things that really do need to be put into words…..Things , sometimes NEED to be said for them to become real in the minds of people. Sometimes it really is necessary to call a spade a spade and tell people in plain english things which they may not wish to hear or contemplate. I suppose you could say that this is a very entertaining book – but that is the last thing we need just now. We are being entertained to death via YouTube and books like this , perhaps literally, while in the real world everything is going to hell at an ever faster pace. We need men and women of action in these times and not books  and perhaps if we find such men and women of action we may live to write great books in the future…..We need the ugly brutal truth told in all its ugliness. We need it rammed down our throats. The time for civility and reason is over.

Multiculturalism and the Transformation of Britain in 2018

January 1. Four British jihadis, sentenced to life in prison for planning a major terror attack in Birmingham, received nearly £800,000 (€900,000; $1 million) in taxpayer-funded legal aid to cover their failed defense, according to information obtained through a freedom of information request. Khobaib Hussain, 25, Naweed Ali, 30, Mohibur Rahman, 33, and Tahir Aziz, 38, received £790,485 to pay for lawyers. Some £635,822 went to the trial lawyers; each of the defendants was represented by a Queen’s Counsel and junior barrister. The billing process is not yet complete; the final figure likely to be higher.

January 3. Each lone child migrant in Britain costs taxpayers nearly £70,000 a year — £67,634 — according to the Association of Directors of Children’s Services. Expenses include £50,716 for residential placement and linked care costs, £4,805 for education, £3,915 for healthcare and £3,826 for social workers. For each lone child migrant, councils also typically pay £440 for interpreters and child advocates, £480 for English language lessons, £70 for dentists and £20 for doctor registration. Home Office statistics show that there are currently at least 4,500 unaccompanied youngsters seeking asylum in Britain — and costing taxpayers more than £300 million a year. Town halls are legally responsible for all costs associated with each child under their care until they are 25.

January 4. Police investigating the sale of illegal cigarettes, drug dealing and human trafficking in Nottingham were warned to stay away from a “Kurdish street,” said to be under the control of Middle Eastern gangsters. Police Constable Lee Wilson told Nottingham Magistrates’ Court:
“Illicit tobacco was being used to fund criminality, primarily drug supply and human trafficking. Senior members of Kurdish organized crime have been using it to fund criminality in the Radford Road area. A Kurdish businessman offered us £5,000 (€5,500; $6,400) a month to cease the tobacco investigation. With others involved in the operation, we had a search dog and were told, ‘police are not welcome on the street.’ It was described as a ‘Kurdish street.’

January 5. Security Minister Ben Wallace admitted that the British government had lost track of the whereabouts of hundreds of Britons fighting for jihadi groups in the Middle East. He told BBC Radio 4’s Today program that around half of the estimated 850 people from the UK who went to Syria and Iraq have returned home, but that the government “does not know where” to find those still in the region.

A PARTY AT THE END OF THE WORLD

On the day following the Orlando , Florida shootings in june 2016 Mark Steyn made a broadcast which , for me , is one of the finest I have ever heard.  It has that intimate and very personal quality which , for the most part , radio alone seems to be able to capture. I don’t know where or by what means this was originally recorded or if it was originally commissioned by The Henry Jackson Society , but whatever the back story it is for me a classic.  It says everything that needs to be said about that night in Orlando  –  and more , much more about our own dilemma at this time……

JEREMY CORBYN THE INCLUSIVE SOCIETY

Jeremy Corbyn is the darling of the ‘left’ and in particular of the youth. The new educated lower middle class youth who have probably never met / spoken to a working class person not to mention a poor marginalized person in their entire lives just love him. These young people who stand shoulder to shoulder with corporate Europe , shoulder to shoulder with the new landlord class , shoulder to shoulder with the those who wish to abolish free speech  , shoulder to shoulder with those who wish to impose Sharia law and culture on poor muslim women and girls , shoulder to shoulder with the obviously fascistic ‘anti fascist’ thugs who are ready and willing to shut anyone up who questions the new European order. Shoulder to shoulder with those who are driving the Jews out of Sweden and France. These young people who have a hatred and contempt for the poor and marginalized that is difficult to fathom are rushing to Corbyn’s side…. These conservative , right-wing reactionary young people , who like to think of themselves as progressive  left , who’s only concern is to protect their own privileged position just love Corbyn.

THE JORDAN PETERSON ROAD SHOW

Jordan Peterson , Sam Harris and Douglas Murray will be doing a gig in London and Dublin in mid July 2018. Peterson who’s C4 interview with Kathy Newman has been watched by over 10 million people is the star of the show – and this , of course , is the point . Its show business folks !

I have watched Peterson and Murray for several years now as well as many other Youtubers but I have been watching them less and less in recent times and have come to the conclusion that they may be doing more harm than good.  Murray , to his credit has , if not defended the EDL then at least put them and their street protest movement in some sort of informed context but he is very much the exception and even he has a certain attitude towards working class people which I , as a working class person , find  offensive and indicative of prejudice on Murray’s part. But compared to the rest of them he is quite radical and serious and fair in his analysis of political events. But it really gets my goat when people like Dave Rubin speak of the creation of an intellectual elite of which he himself of course is a member.  Give me a woman like Anne Marie Waters any day of the week.

If I am looking for wisdom I will look to political parties such as the For Britain Movement and if I want to be entertained I will listen to Elvis.
