Some images from Anne Marie Waters , leader of the For Britain Movement political party’s visit to the USA.
Everything Gerard Batten touches turns to gold. He simply cannot fail – When he took over the leadership of UKIP the party was in a state of implosion with the obituary writers just sharpening their pens to record the final collapse. It was all over , done and dusted , finished or so it seemed , but Batten had different ideas and he was hardly in the door before he had halted the exodus from the party and begun , over the space of a few short months , to put the finances of the party back in the red. Batten looked and sounded like a leader , someone who knew what he wanted and knew how to get it. He was comfortable in front of the TV cameras and projected the image of a strong man who knew his own mind – He was impressive , no question about that.
Nothing quite succeeds like success and soon major YouTubers with huge followings were flocking to his side while an army of disgruntled ex UKIPers were returning to the fold in ever larger numbers. Even his worst enemies would have to admit that he was doing everything right when, just at the right moment Tommy Robinson found himself in jail for contempt of court putting in motion chain of events which potentially could bring millions of new member into the ranks of UKIP. God it seems , was on Gerard Battens side , there could be no other explanation . Batten was getting more TV coverage than Nigel Farage and looked ever more the national figure with each passing minute and it has to be admitted that he played his hand well , very well , in all of this and did not miss a single trick.
None of this bodes well for For Britain , at least in the short to medium term. When Anne Marie Waters founded For Britain she might reasonably have expected to pick up many ex UKIP votes and members , and with a UKIP that was becoming less relevant by the second her party could have hoped to attract the dissident ‘ right’ vote in any future election at national or local level , but now even the most committed For Britain member must be wondering if For Britain has any future at all. Certainly this has knocked For Britain back – this was not exactly part of the plan and Batten is no Henry Bolton…….this is not going to be the walk over that some For Britain members might have thought it was going to be.
There can be little doubt that if an election is called in the near future UKIP will probable do well , how well is anyone guess , but all the polls look promising from UKIP’s point of view and if these predictions come true it could be embarrassing for For Britain is they fail to attract at least a respectable vote in the relatively few seats they have the manpower or funds to contest , and while no one in For Britain with any intelligence believed it would be easy few expected it might get this hard. This was definitely not part of the plan. The harsh reality is that most British people have never heard of the For Britain Movement or Anne Marie Waters and if the mainstream media have their way it will stay like that.
Of course , even if there is an election and UKIP do well , there are still a lot of quite powerful people in UKIP who hate Batten’s guts and would love to get rid of him at almost any cost and if an internal war were to erupt it might just tear UKIP apart. Batten has a somewhat arrogant manner , there is a bit of the upstart about him , a swagger that has only come to the fore in very recent times and he is rubbing all the right people up the wrong way and while it is undoubtedly true that nothing succeeds like success the opposite is equally true and pride , arrogance and over confidence can lead to a terrible and ignoble fall. Cynics might argue that Batten was a relatively quiet and inactive voice in UKIP untill Anne Marie Waters decided to set up her own party and that his interest in Tommy Robinson developed in tandem with Robinson’s breakthrough rise to prominence and international fame since his stint in prison and even those who don’t have a cynical bone in their bodies might come to the same conclusion.

In the last few days Tommy Robinson has stated that he will join UKIP if he is permitted to do so. There is a ban on members and past members of the EDL and other groups from joining UKIP but Gerard Batten , UKIP’s leader , has indicated that this ban might be lifted in the case of Robinson. In a YouTube video Robinson challenged the UKIP NEC to permit the membership to vote on the issue. Since then that is what in fact has happened and the matter will be voted on by members of UKIP at their next annual conference in a few months time.
UKIP’s ban on members or past member of the EDL joining UKIP will remain in place but there is no ban on members of the labour party or members of Stand Up To Racist , Hope Not Hate and other such extreme and divisive groups. There is , in short , no UKIP ban when it comes to people who call black people , immigrants , white people , gays and anyone else who raises concerns about Islamic immigration scum. The fact that Robinson is willing , and seemingly anxious , to join UKIP in spite of this is not a good reflection on Robinson himself. Batten’s contempt for the EDL and Robinson is very clear in an interview between the two men which was posted on YouTube not long ago. In this interview Robinson asks Batten about the fact that he ( Robinson ) has been called racist and bigoted by senior figures within UKIP which Batten cynically dismisses as simply a manifestation of free speech within the party. Batten has only started speaking out about Islam since Anne Marie Waters , herself an ex UKIP member and an outspoken critic of Islam , started her own For Britain Movement party. Ironically Batten recently stated that while members of For Britain were welcome to join UKIP Waters herself was not.
The EDL is not and never has been a racist organisation. It has had , and still has , more than its fair share of blacks , gays , jews and immigrants within its ranks. It is however , in spite of this , despised and condemned as racist , bigoted and far right. The fact that it is a movement whose membership is made up , in large part , of people from very deprived communities and sometimes dysfunctional families and backgrounds means that they are fair game for every bigot and anti white , anti working class hate filled individual who wants to vent his or her hatred in a society where it no longer acceptable to abuse marginalized people as it once might have been. There is a huge class element to all this…….’ unfortunately many working class people are themselves more than happy to vilify these people in the most ignorant and hateful language.. You can , and people do , call members of the EDL names that if addressed towards anyone else would certainly lead to a criminal conviction on the grounds of hate speech. The fact that UKIP has singled out these most vulnerable of people is unforgivable and should leave no doubts in the minds of reasonable people as to the true nature of this political party but in spite of this huge numbers of mostly working class people are taken in and are joining UKIP. There is an excellent speech by Anne Marie Waters during which she is asked about Batten’s sudden interest in the Islam question which I would recommend everyone to watch.
It is possible , some would argue even likely , that the membership of UKIP will reject any application for membership made by Robinson and from UKIP’s point of view it is far from obvious that it would be a good move on their part to grant him that membership. It could , in fact , be the final nail in the coffin for UKIP. Either way it is sure to damage Robinson’s reputation and standing as a working class hero and divide the working class / democratic / nationalist vote and the broader anti -multiculturalism movement. Yes , we are living in interesting times – and thttps://wordpress.com/post/forbritainforum.com/165e hey are becoming more interestinger and interestinger by the minute……………….
since posting this Robinson’s application has been denied…………..https://wordpress.com/post/forbritainforum.com/165

Simon Harris , on his European Freedom website , says of Anne Marie Waters –
” I must admit I don’t like her one little bit. I also have doubts about her image … the scruffy jackets, unclean hair and insincere look will make it difficult for her to convince a broad swathe of the British public as will the fact that she is a hard-drinking lesbian Zionist who’s not even British born.
In fairness to Harris it must be said he is quite happy to complement Anne Marie on her political stance – though not on her appearance , from time to time . And he is not the only one to express concern about how she presents herself. There are a substantial number of Hope Not Hate types who are ever eager to make disparaging comments on Anne Marie’s appearance when they run out of political insults to throw at her. It would be easy of course to ignore all this were it not for the fact that even some of her own For Britain members often feel the need to ask her to make a little more effort on her appearance when she is doing her video broadcasts on Youtube.
When she is not being insulted by her enemies or gently nudged by her followers to improve her look she occasionally is given advice –
” If I were advising AMW ( I don’t know why she hasn’t asked me yet) I’d say if you are serious about your leadership bid, you need to consider your image. If other politicians have to do so, then so should you. Rather than present yourself as an “I don’t care what I look like” lesbian, you might take a leaf out of the Ruth Davidson book. Get a decent haircut, a hint of lipstick and a tailored jacket. You can be smart and still be butch. Work on that troubled look. Big smile. ”
While all this is amusing in its way there is a serious side to it. Image is important and many feel her image is all wrong and even off-putting. I am not on social media so don’t know what people are saying there but I’m quite active on Youtube and if the comments sections are anything to go by then there are very many who feel that she is putting herself at a severe disadvantage by her casual approach to her own image. Anne Marie has said that people will just have to take her as she is and this of course is fine and even admirable but is it a good political strategy ?
Personally I am quite happy with the image she projects but I can understand how some people might feel that it is unprofessional and that it sends out the wrong impression. If , many would argue , she can’t bother to make herself look smart , well…….. And as the poet Partick Kavanagh once wrote .” a man is what is written on the label / and the passing world stares but no on stops / to look closer ” . But first impressions matter , we all know that. On the other hand some like her , trust her , because she is natural and unaffected in her manner and appearance. You pays your money and takes your pick !
If you a member or supporter of Stand Up To Racism this is no barrier to becoming a member of UKIP. The fact that members of this group regularly abuse , intimidate and bully black people , brown people , white people , immigrants and gays etc is not an issue. If you are a member of Hope Not Hate and have bullied , abused , intimidated , slandered and marginalized black people , immigrants , gays , moderate muslims and ex muslims it is also not a problem. If you are a member or supporter of Antifa and in that capacity have bullied and slandered decent people of all colours and ethnicities calling them scum and other such names then put your mind to rest – We in UKIP don’t have a problem with people joining from Antifa either . If you support the aims , objectives , values and practices of any of the above groups then put your mind at rest – We really honestly don’t care.
If you are a member of the media and have deliberately lied to the people of Britain and perhaps put their lives and liberties at risk , if you have criminally slandered those who defend and speak for the poor and marginalized and forgotten of Britain , well that is your private business. If you are a member of a mainstream political party which has resolutely refused to represent the poor and marginalized in society – if you have spread hatred and bigotry against the poor , the weak , the marginalized and have characterised them as racists and fascists and bigots ….well , don’t give it a thought. None of these things will bar you from membership of our party.
On the other hand however we don’t just let anyone in. If you are , or ever have been , a member of the English Defence League then you are not welcome. If you live in a poor deprived community where thousands and tens of thousands of children and young girls have been raped , trafficked and abused because they are white and vulnerable and you in turn have responded to this by joining or supporting a street movement to stop it then we don’t want you. There is no place in UKIP for people like you.
“The city is also very diverse, with 42% of the population being from an ethnic minority background, reflecting the city’s rich and varied cultural heritage. Birmingham is a “super-diverse” city. Academic research suggests that there are people from nearly 200 countries who have made Birmingham their home . The 2011 Census revealed that 42.1% classified themselves within an ethnic group other than white British, compared to 30% in 2001, a rise of 12%. Birmingham is soon to become a majority minority city. The demographic makeup of Birmingham’s young people has also changed significantly over recent years and is becoming increasingly diverse. For example, according to the 2011 census over 60% of the under 18 population is now from a non-white British background, compared to around 44% in 2001. Ethnic diversity can bring many benefits such as transnational trading links and high levels of cultural resource. Birmingham has benefited from its diverse migrant communities who have settled in the city and successfully contributed to its economic vitality, becoming leaders in education, medicine, sports, arts and business and providing employment opportunities to local people. Our demographic landscape is increasingly becoming ethnically and socially ‘super diverse’, which means a greater understanding of the changes in cultural norms, identities and social shifts in how we live work and learn is needed. Community cohesion is an approach that enables us to respond to the wide ranging and kaleidoscope of identities, rather than simply focussing on a white majority and small number of ethnic minority identities.”
The above is a short extract from the Draft Community Cohesion Strategy of May 2018 . Don’t waste time reading it as you have heard it all before. In a statement by Birmingham City Council on community cohesion you will find the following –
- no promotion or unwitting support is given to individuals or groups that promote and propagate messages of hate and intolerance
- ensure appropriate linkage to the Prevent programme where appropriate
- ensure all schools and educational settings promote our shared British values
- challenge illegal and harmful cultural attitudes and practices towards women such as Female Genital Mutilation, Forced Marriage and Honour-Based Violence
- actively promote opportunities for cross-community interactions in order to strengthen relationships and common bonds between communities of different backgrounds and isolate extreme voices
- encourage communities to report incidents of hate crime including anti-Semitism, Islamophobia or homophobic behaviour.
All you need to know here is that Birmingham has one of the highest rates of FGM in the UK so that will tell you what they mean by ‘challenging’ the issue.
